UK NHS Boundary Map Files for Editing in Adobe Illustrator, InkScape, QGIS or ArcGIS
Having these maps as vector editable files allows for a number of benefits, including:
Scalability: Vector graphics can be resized without losing quality, making it easy to zoom in and out of the maps to see details or get an overview.
Customization: Vector graphics can be edited, allowing for the addition of new information, such as new health facilities or changes to boundaries, making it easy to keep the maps up-to-date.
Versatility: Vector graphics can be exported to a variety of file formats, making it easy to use the maps in a range of applications, such as websites, presentations, or printed materials.
To edit these maps, you would need vector editing software, such as Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, QGIS, ArcGIS, PowerBI or any other vector editing software. It's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the software's interface and tools before making any purchase so you can decide wether its possible to do what you need.
Keep in mind that being able to edit a map doesn't mean you can achieve what you need to. It may end up taking many hours to create something that we can create for you in less than an hour. The cost/time benefit would need carefully considering.

ICSs are designed to create a more integrated and collaborative approach to healthcare delivery, by breaking down traditional organizational and funding silos and promoting joint working and decision-making between different stakeholders. The ICS boundaries are intended to align with existing local authority areas and clinical commissioning group (CCG) boundaries, and each ICS is responsible for developing and delivering a local health and care strategy to meet the needs of its population. There are currently 42 ICSs in England, which were established in 2021 as part of the NHS Long Term Plan. They are seen as a key mechanism for delivering on the government's goal of achieving a more joined-up and sustainable health and care system in England, and they are expected to play a major role in driving improvements in health outcomes and reducing health inequalities.
Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) are local organizations responsible for planning and delivering integrated care in England. Each ICB covers a defined geographical area, known as an ICB boundary, which aligns with the boundaries of Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), Primary Care Networks (PCNs), and other healthcare providers. The ICB boundaries are designed to ensure that the healthcare needs of local populations are met and that services are delivered effectively and efficiently. The ICB boundary is reviewed periodically to ensure that it continues to meet the needs of the local community and to ensure that the ICB is working effectively with other healthcare providers. The role of ICBs is to ensure that patients receive high-quality, comprehensive, and coordinated care from a range of healthcare providers, including hospitals, general practices, community health services, and social care services.
There are well over 200 NHS Hospital trusts across the UK, Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland. Strictly speaking there are only Trusts in England but we've included the main hospitals in the other countries to provide a more concise overview of the locations of the major NHS hospital locations. Our maps get far too cluttered if we label each hospital with it's full name so we place numbered circles on the map of the UK and display tables around the edge of the map with teh hospitals full name and corresponding number on the map. We also have spreadsheets of the hospitals full details.
Each ICB operates within a specific geographical area, focusing on the unique healthcare needs of its local population. They play a crucial role in shaping healthcare delivery to be more patient-centric and community-focused. Each ICB is divided up into smaller Sub-ICB areas. These are different to local authority districts in name and geographical area. Our maps are designed in vector file formats so the detail is absolutely stunning and the lines, text, fonts and edges of shapes remain crisp and clear at whatever size these maps are printed or displayed.
We specialize in designing user-friendly web-based mapping applications. We've developed a wide variety of apps, ranging from basic postcode searches and pin placement to complex data analysis that determines the most profitable postcodes to target for advertising based on customer location. By reducing wasted targeting, we've saved clients significant amounts of money. Our team creates mapping applications quickly and affordably, with the ability to build, test, and release simple apps in as little as one day. While more complex apps may take longer, we believe in the philosophy of keeping it simple and effective. Contact us today to discuss your mapping application project.
Our team is composed of both designers and developers who specialize in creating high-quality maps. We understand that you may require a traditional printed map for display in your office or for use on a flip chart in your next meeting. In most cases, we can supply a basic, raw NHS boundary map as a glossy, laminated print for next-day delivery. If you require customisation of the map, please get in touch with your requirements. We will tailor the map to your needs and typically send over an example within an hour via email. We can print maps in sizes up to several metres wide and tall, as well as in A5 or smaller formats. Before purchasing the raw files, please contact us to ensure that separate files are necessary.
Our team has created an online map customisation tool that is both user-friendly and highly effective, catering to individuals who lack access to professional-grade vector graphics editing software. This tool has been in development for almost a decade and has already benefited over 50,000 users. Our online mapping tools allow you to divide a country into various coloured territories, establish zone and heading names, and select colours with ease using the mouse. After customising the map, you can export it as a vector Adobe PDF file or an SVG file for use in PowerPoint or further editing.
